Traditional Irish Music for your Patrick’s Day Party
There’s a saying in Ireland that you may or may not have heard. It goes ‘The craic was mighty!’ and it means you’ve had a great time somewhere. It’s also a phrase that Micheál Ó Domhnaill is well used to hearing.
- Music group Dervish making beautiful music on Livetrad

Micheál is the musical maestro behind LiveTrad.com, the website that hosts live traditional music sessions where the craic is, as a rule, mighty. Ok, so while you may not be standing right beside the musicians and you might not be able to sip that creamy pint of porter resting on the table, you’ll still be right in the thick of the action. You see, Micheál has has made it so that while the gig is on we can chat with all of the other music fans that are watching. Basically, this means that while your room is flooded with tinkling tin whistles, harmonious harps and battering bodhráns you could easily be chatting to Donal from Donegal or Mary from Mayo. That, of course, depends if you’re not sitting there jaw-dropped, totally mesmerized by the music.
And with St Patrick’s Day hiding tantalisingly just around the corner, we’re thinking that LiveTrad’s session on March 17th from Dublin City might just be the perfect soundtrack to our St Patrick’s Day Party!
Don’t forget our adventurous blogger David will be blogging live from the St Patrick’s Day parade in Dublin City! He’ll begin at 11am on the 17th of March with photos, clips and stories from right inside the action! Bookmark the page now!
If you’re struggling to find green food to serve at your St Patrick’s Day Party look no further than our Shamrock Sandwiches and Pea and Bacon Soup!
Our blog has green drinks to chink, too along with a wonderful whiskey cocktail from Bushmills Inn!
Thanks to David for running this blog. Ahead of our St. Patrick’s Day webcast, we’re inviting people all over the world to send us their own St. Patrick’s Day photos. We’ll include some of these in Thursday’s webcast. You can email them through to info@livetrad.com.
Thank you, the craic was so mighty I am listening again.
