Be seen in green for St Patrick’s Day
The effect of St Patrick’s Day reaches well beyond Ireland these days, with March 17th celebrated as the day the world goes green. There are 70 million people all over the world claiming links with our fair isle (and sure who could blame them?) and they want to join in the craic.
That carefree St Patrick’s Day feeling has evolved to into what scientists don’t call the ‘greening’ phenomenon; landmark towers, bridges, hotels, and natural wonders lit up in a fabulous green glow on March 17th.
From Auckland to New York, Madrid to Sydney, the greening knows no bounds, or borders – but it does know lots of buildings. And what a sight they make! We’ve collected these from previous years, to give you an idea of what’s in store for your town when all green light bulbs suddenly sell out. We’ve heard whispers of brand new ‘greening’ locations happening this year, so you’ll just have to keep an eye out!
With no further ado, behold; how St Patrick’s Day turns the world green!
