Did that armour just move? If that moved, I'm out of here...

The Tower Museum contains two permanent exhibitions and hosts a number of touring exhibitions throughout the year. The “Story of Derry” exhibition outlines the city’s history from its earliest fomation to the present day. The “An Armada Shipwreck, La Trinidad Valencera” exhibition tells the story of the Spanish’s Armada ship, La Trinidad Valencera’s journey around the Irish coast. It was shipwrecked off the coast of Donegal in 1588 and discovered in 1971.

Both exhibitions use a range of display and interactive techniques to present their stories.

These projects total almost £3 million and have received major funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Northern Ireland Tourist Board and Derry City Council.

About the author

Raised in the Wicklow countryside, David is country through and through. He loves reading, especially Sebastian Barry and Roddy Doyle, and cooking (burning?) up a storm in the kitchen. You might find him bouncing around a tennis court on weekends before retiring to a quiet pub with friends for a long lazy afternoon. David writes about sport, food and nature and is fascinated by the Titanic. Favourite Walk:The Lambe Hill (for thinking) and Beal Ban beach in Ballyferriter (for romancing).
